Mission Impussible

January 21, 2009

Ok. So last night I went to my house mate claires mothers house for dinner. The food was exquisite – bested only by the conversation.

We went swimming. I hit my ear on a pipe and stifled a yelp. Over the following few minutes, I would reveal to claire my secret lobe infection, she would summon her mother (nurse), I would towel off and find myself on my side on a couch, staring at the needle in her hand.

The procedure went for about ten minutes. It hurt a lot and at one point the piercing hole of my left lobe sprayed a 1.5m dart of puss.

The following shows a mere fraction of the terror, trauma and agony I endured last night. Enjoy you sadistic fuck.

Kangaroo island

January 16, 2009

Kangaroo island boasts an astonishing plethora of wildlife, but perhaps none more intriguing than the quaverus wedgus, found primarily at some old cafe near seal bay.

Please also find enclosed a photo of a large huntsman.

These bands, you want to know.

January 11, 2009

Musicians that barely acknowledge other members of this industry are a dime a dozen.

Yeah, it’s a competitive world, only the strong survive, whatever. That just makes it obvious when someone is willing to put themselves second for a minute, because they’re great at being a person too.

I’ve started a shrine dedicated to the bands we see as much as we possibly can. Not only do they have the drive to make damn good music, but these people are all socially smart enough not to let the pretentious musician deep inside their psyche alienate everyone around.

This shrine o’ mine is not astonishingly comprehensive or colourful yet (first draft finished at 3:30am) but the links will take you to where you need to be.

Christmas Commuter

December 25, 2008

Thanks to everyone who threw their hands in the air last night. Formers were amazing too. You can all give yourselves a big word on the mouf.

Last night we partied at norris’, post gig. I had to catch a plane to Melbourne at 6am so I left the party at like 4:30. I got to the airport by 5ish, checked in and boarded by 5:45. Then I woke up when we landed at maybe 7:30. The flight attendant laughed at me when I alighted; I put this down to my chronic and infamous snorning condition. Then I got a sky bus to southern cross station at like 8:15. I woke up at the station to someone pulling my arm and again laughing at my expense as everyone had gone. Then, when I went to get a train to Geelong, I was swiftly shut down with the old there’s-no-seats-left-on-the-9am-you’ll-have-to-get-the-10am line.

So I smoked some darts and beatboxed with my mouf for a bit.

Now it’s 10:07am. I’m on the train and will be picked up at 11:00am. Things are looking up. Merry Christmas xx

Enclosed is a picture of me hitting a festive rock bottom x

Christmas Eve Show

December 23, 2008

Peeps,

For those of you that are unaware, we are playing a massive Christmas eve show tomorrow night at the Ed Castle. The bill looks like this -

Former Child Stars
Skye Harbour
The Touch

Also there’s lots of djs and shit.

Entry will be a reasonble, non-negotiable fee that I can’t see being more than ten bucks.

For those of you who live in Melbourne don’t fret; we will be back for a show on the 27th at Wow with Art vs. Science. More on that later.

Enjoy the silly season
Bah humbug

Busk Harbour

December 20, 2008

band-photo

After a particularly big night about three weeks ago, we found ourselves busking on these steps at 7:30am in the middle of Sydney (on the corner of Liverpool and Castlereagh, if you must know).

busking

Needless to say, nobody gave us a dime. And we call ourselves musicians.

The set list consisted of such classics as: Ronan Keating – When You Say Nothing At all, Backstreet Boys – As Long As You Love Me and Phil Collins – You Can’t Hurry Love.

Matt and Josh.
